WhatsApp Emoticons and Backgrounds
WhatApp is a cross platform instant messaging service that has taken the world by storm, quickly becoming the most popular application of its kind worldwide. People love WhatsApp because of how easy and economical it is to send messages, multimedia, and make voice calls to your contacts, even if they are on the other side of the globe. One of the features of WhatsApp that makes it so much fun is the extensive library of emoticons, also known as emojis.
The hundreds of tiny images of faces, animals, foods, objects and symbols offer lots of creative possibilities for expressing yourself. The newer versions of WhatsApp have really improved in terms of the ability to personalize your chat experience; one way that you can do this is by changing the WhatsApp background, or wallpaper, that will be displayed in your chat window behind your messages. You also now have the ability to download additional emoticons and emojis from other applications and use them in WhatsApp.

Change WhatsApp Background/Wallpaper
Changing your WhatsApp background is a quick and easy process. The first thing you need to do is make sure that the background or wallpaper image that you want is saved in your phone’s media gallery. The background image can originate from anywhere: a picture you took with your phone’s camera, themes that came with your phone, or images that you have downloaded from the internet or a wallpaper application. To change your WhatsApp background, first open the application.
Then, open the navigation/menu bar and select “Settings” > “Chat Settings”. From that screen, select “Wallpaper”; this will create a pop up screen for you to choose where to find the background image that you want to use as your wallpaper. Select “Gallery”, and then select the image you want to use as your WhatsApp background. If you ever want to revert to the original, you can do so by selecting “Default” instead of “Gallery”.
Download More WhatsApp Emoticons
To use extra emoticons, or emojis, in your WhatsApp chats, you will need to download them from an emoticons application and then insert them into your WhatsApp messages. Just about any emoji application will do; you just need to download and install it the way you would install any other app on your phone (through the Play Store, App Store, BlackBerry World, etc.).
When the emoticons application is installed, a new icon should be created in WhatsApp at the top of the screen. Simply tap the icon, which, depending on the emoticon application that you installed, will probably take you to a gallery where you can select the new emoji that you want to send. Tap the emoji to select it, and then select the contact to whom you would like to send it. You can write a caption just as if you were sending a normal picture through WhatsApp, and then just send the message as usual.
